About ZDT Entertainment Network

ZDT provides a qualified, busy professional like you with a way to help students get a start in the entertainment business. We are an apprentice-based training program that places qualified students into real-life, professional situations, where they learn on the job.

We do all of the recruiting and screening, schedule the interviews, etc., so that all you have to do is mentor your student. ZDT maintains all the administrative management for the student throughout the process. Your studio/station has no responsibilities or liabilities of any kind.

What Do I Need to Do?

ZDT provides coursework which each student works at on his/her own time. Once a week, at a time convenient to both of you, the student brings the completed assignments to the studio/station, where they meet with you for an hour or so. You critique and evaluate the lessons, and offer any instruction or guidance that will help them in their development. In short, you "take them under your wing." The student may, if you choose, serve as an intern — performing any tasks at the studio/ station that you feel are educational, and for which the student is qualified.

How Well Does It Work?

Our student is enrolled in the ZDT Entertainment Network fully accredited "home study" program. But, as extensive as the curriculum is, everyone understands that it would be very difficult to break into this business by working on coursework alone. That's where you come in. Coursework, plus weekly sessions with a working professional, form an extremely successful training program that has launched hundreds of newcomers into their chosen careers.

We impress upon the students that there is no guarantee, by you or ZDT, that this or any studio or station will eventually hire them. That is up to their abilities, desire, and development. Of course, some level of entry-level employment is obviously what is hoped for — and what generally occurs.

In fact, ZDT's apprenticeship system is so successful that more than 90% of students placed by ZDT's staff have gone on to successful employment in the entertainment industry. However, if for whatever reason, the program is not working to your satisfaction, we will end the program and place the student with another studio or station.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Before they ever meet you, ZDT students have already been through an in-depth screening process. The next step is to meet with their potential mentor — presumably you. Rather than an intimidating interview, this meeting is simply a chance for two of you to talk. The student will share their goals and desires related to this business. You might give them some background and information regarding how you got started. The point is to make sure you like and are comfortable with each other.
